Simcocks’ Bus Services are a 4th generation family owned and operated company that have been operating in the Garfield, Pakenham and Drouin areas for 60 years. When the Tonimbuk School closed in the early 1950’s Cecil Simcocks, who was responsible for the morning paper & mail run from Garfield to Tonimbuk, took it upon himself to offer transport for the children of the Tonimbuk area to school in Bunyip. Cecil was a well known figure in the area, living in the Main Street of Garfield, and along with his wife, Reta, he owned and ran the Milkbar & Newsagency for many years. Slowly but surely the bus transport requirements in the area grew, and it wasn’t long before Cecil ran multiple buses each morning and afternoon around the area, all driven by a strong community of local farm workers and small business owners.

Throughout the 60s and 70s as the company grew it added school runs in Pakenham and the Drouin school networks. The company moved the bulk of its buses from its small depot at the rear of Main Street, Garfield, to David Simcocks’ (son of Cecil & Reta) family home in Mont Albert road in the early 1980’s. The Mont Albert road depot today, still serves as a depot for many of the Simcocks’ fleet. After Steve Simcocks (eldest son of David) took over management of the company in the mid 1980’s, Simcocks’ Bus Service saw further growth into the Pakenham region, prompting a move to it’s current head office & main depot in O’Sullivan Street, Pakenham in 1999. The Pakenham Depot has room for over 30 buses, and facilities for administration, operations and a complete workshop for the servicing and maintenance of its ever growing fleet.
