About this experience

From your scheduled pick-up location, this unforgettable journey begins.

Firstly, you will arrive at the beautiful Emerald Lakeside Station, home to the new 'Puffing Billy Lakeside Visitor Centre'. Be amazed as you wander through the Puffing Billy Railway history books showcased inside a magnificent facility. This state-of-the-art centre has just been awarded the Best New International Architecture Award in Chicago, USA, for 2022. Next up, you will board our 'Special Tour Train' that will take you on a 45min journey to the historic township of Gembrook. This wonderful journey slowly winds through the hills, including the stunning Wrights forest and consists of 4 landmark trestle bridge crossings. The Puffing Billy Railway first ran to Gembrook on 18th December 1900.

Upon arrival at Gembrook, you will be transported 5mins by coach to the beautiful Botanical Garden and Art Gallery. Both the Garden and Gallery are owned and operated by Sue Jarvis, an award-winning artist. Mrs Jarvis proudly has two of her finest pieces on display in the Melbourne State Library. Following the Garden & Gallery visit, you will be transported 5mins across the town to the spectacular Forest Edge Gembrook. Here, you will be treated to a fabulous 2-course meal and beverage of your choice with the views of the Dandenong and Warburton ranges as your backdrop. Finally, on completion of lunch service, you will be transported back to your scheduled drop-off location, and the tour will conclude.

Itinerary

9.00-9.30am
The tour will begin from your departure location where you will then be taken via Coach to Emerald Lakeside Station.
10.00am
Here you will be able to grab some morning tea from the Lakeside Café (own expense) and explore the new building which includes a Puffing Billy Museum.
At 11.00am, your train will depart from Lakeside Station. A 45 minute journey awaits you through Wright Forest and over three historic trestle bridges, before arriving at Gembrook Station.
11.45am
Your bus will then collect you, and a short 5 minute journey to a private tour of a Botanic Garden and Gallery, by the artist and owner herself.
12.30pm
After the Botanic Garden, another short bus trip to Forest Edge where you will be met with some of the most spectacular views of Dandenong and Warburton Ranges. This is where you will have a 2 course Roast lunch provided.
2pm
Once lunch has concluded, the bus will then depart Forest Edge and return to your location for the completion of the tour.
2.30pm onwards
Arrive back to your departure location

Tour Cancellation Policy & T&Cs

  • Full payment due at time of booking.
  • No cancellation fee applies to any booking cancelled or rescheduled 14 business days before departure.
  • Cancellation within 14 business days but more than 48 hours before departure will be charged a 50% cancellation fee.
  • Should a group booking be cancelled less than 48 hours before departure, a 100% cancellation fee will be incurred.
  • A surcharge may apply to any location to depart outside a 50km Radius of 17 O'Sullivan St, Pakenham. Please get in touch with us prior to booking for this cost.
  • A minimum of 80 people are required to operate this tour. While Simcocks and our other partners prioritise meeting the prerequisite numbers, occasionally, the tour may need to be rescheduled. Should this be the case, one of our team will contact your 'group coordinator' to transfer the tour to another date and/or arrange a refund no less than 14 business days before departure.
